Project Description

Hanson Associates were the appointed electroacoustic engineers for the 800 seat theatre, multi-purpose black box studio and 350 seat multi-functional council meeting space in the recently opened Bunjil Place cultural precinct.  To ensure its competitiveness with other regional centres, Hanson Associates first shortlisted loudspeaker manufacturers that were currently in favour on performer riders and could demonstrate technical compliance with exacting performance requirements using a supplied acoustic computer model of the auditorium.  After a preferred solution was identified, designs for the highly engineered sound systems were completed in close conjunction with the auditorium acoustic designs.  By applying such technical rigour to the design process, the installed systems deliver unprecedented levels of speech intelligibility and musical clarity, more akin to Australia’s national venues.

In a true end-to-end service, Hanson Associates’ involvement extended from the initial technical brief development through to full on-site commissioning services to configure, align and equalise the loudspeaker systems.
